Who runs Cellar Cabin, how units get tested, and how the site pays for itself.
Why this site exists
Wine storage is sold on cabinet finishes and bottle counts. Neither keeps wine. What keeps wine is a unit that holds a set point without drifting, does not shake the sediment, and blocks light. Those are measurable, so we measure them across 100 units.
How we test
Every unit runs a 72-hour hold at 12°C in a 22°C room with a logger on the middle shelf. We record drift rather than the front-panel reading, take a noise measurement at one metre overnight, and load real Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne bottles to get an honest capacity figure. Door seals are pulled at temperature and cabinet vibration is checked.
The indices on each review — stability, quietness, capacity, build and value — are derived from that unit's own measurements and published specification. They are not editorial gut feel and they are not supplied by manufacturers.
How we make money
